Pedodontics

By Dr. Daniela Politi

Taking care of children.

Pedodontics (from the Greek pais paidòs “child” and odùs òntos “tooth”) is the branch of dentistry that deals with the prevention, health and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity in children.

This specialty makes use of specific knowledge, targeted therapies, strong psychotherapeutic skills as well as, of course, a “tailor-made” environment and instruments.

Caring for a child is not always an easy task and can only be carried out after calmly building a relationship of trust, harmony and cooperation with the young patient and his/her parents. The task of pediatric dentistry is not only to solve children’s mouth and teeth problems but also and above all to train healthy “future adults” who understand the importance of looking after their teeth and who are confident about going to the dentist’s.
